Kyoto Gosho, 京都御所

Kyoto Gosho, the Kyoto Imperial Palace is a former residence of Emperor of Japan before the capital was moved to Tokyo. It is located in central Kyoto in the large national garden, called Kyoto Gyoen. The garden is open to the public, but for visiting the palace, prior application is required. Imperial Household Agency hosts public tours of the buildings. There are also chances to visit Kyoto Imperial Palace during its open days in spring and fall, with no prior apllications.
